EOLing the VRT rules and supporting bleeding-edge (n,n-1) versions of
Snort make little sense, especially to EOL 2.8.6.0 and support 2.8.6.1
where 2.8.6.1 is nothing more than minor bug fixes and no major
engine/rule syntax changes.

The point I was making here is why EOL *unless* there are specific rule
engine syntax changes that are *actively* being used? This isn't
appliance versus Open Source; you're alienating your own VRT customers
by choosing this aggressive EOL stance

If we could just make your peers see your perspective... you do take an
unfair beating for the transgressions of the entity that signs your
paycheck.
